I've always found it interesting to look on others' web sites and find out what gear they've used to take those photos I'm envious of.

That's me looking gormless as usual. The white thing sat in the field that looks like a stone is a Snowy Owl!

After a host of cameras and lenses I've ended up with a combination that seems to produce acceptable results (you can judge - the results are the recent images on this site). The following made me buy this set up:

• Both 500mm f4 and 400mm f5.6 lenses are superb. Pin sharp and fast focussing.
• You can carry the 400, but you can't carry the 500, well, very far anyway
• The 40D is a great body.
