Another go at the Lesser Yellowlegs on the Brue Estuary. Plus some recordings of its calls. It's always very vocal and this is often the easiest way to locate it.

Spent quite a while photographing ducks at Catcott in the nice light. Most need to be viewed at a large size to see detail, but I did like this Wigeon.

This is the wild Common Crane that's been with the released birds on Aller Moor. Showed nicely today, but from still from a fair old distance.

A great day in the New Forest, where the Spanish Sparrow and Dark-eyed Junco showed well. I had to return to the sparrow later in the day to avoid the morning crowds, and it was well worth the second visit. Thanks to Bruce for letting us into his girlfriends house! My junco photos are not worth bothering with, but a few Crossbills showed wellish while waiting for the junco to fail in its return to a seeded stump!

This Ring-billed Gull at Chew reminded me what they are supposed to look like. I haven't seen one for a while.

The years still going well! This Yellow-browed Warbler at Ham Wall showed briefly but well in a patch of sun (remember this stuff?) this morning. Later on I got drowed and pelted by hail stones - great British weather.

Happy New Year, and what a cracking start to 2012! In and around Burnham to Brean were the Lesser Yellowlegs, Snow Bunting, 2 Black Redstarts and the juvenile Bewick's Swan.
