28 June 2014

A messed up trip to try and see Silver-studded Blue was abandoned in favour of a local attempt to see White Admiral at Shapwick. They were very active but a couple alighted on some close Bramble a few times.

Collard Hill, where a couple of lightning fast blue butterflies may have been Large, but this Clouded Yellow was better, allowing a close approach.

I was sort of trying to be a bit artistic - this is a Bee Orchid and small Grasshoppers at Berrow.

7 June 2014

An afternoon out on Exmoor where Heath Fritillary and Small Pearl-bordered Fritillary both showed very well.

Must admit I thought I'd never catch up with a Short-toed Eagle in the UK but here it is! Morden Bog in Dorset is a stunning site to host this bird for a couple of days. The site and the bird were much appreciated.
